MOVIE STAR GETS OUT THE FAMILY ALBUM
Photogenic Ella Raines Offers Personally Conducted Tour of Her Past
“In the four short years I’ve been in pictures I’ve been asked more questions about my past than I can count. Did I have my snubnose as a baby? Did I always stare solemnly at cameras? Did I always want to be an actress? Questions have been coming so thick and fast I determined that the next time I finished a picture and had a moment to catch my breath I would dig up the family album and let my pictures speak for themselves. Now that Dan Duryea, Bill Bendix and I have finished ‘White Tie and Tails’ for Universal-International, I’ve done the deed and herewith reveal myself from the beginning of time, as I remember it, until the present. These are the bare facts as the camera records them.”
5. “‘Camera-shy Raines’ they used to call me in my high school days. Every time I saw a camera shutter closing, I closed my eyes, as you can see. I could call this one ‘Ella Raines and friend;’ but that would only baffle all you people who are wondering who that gorgeous girl on the left could be. She’s Shirley Brenden, and we went to high school together when I was 13. We thought we looked like sisters.”
