Early/mid-1950s. A paper label on the back of the photo reads:
An imaginative “diamond” print on natural raw silk, from Irene’s new collection. Exquisitely tailored suit, featuring Irene’s “normal” look, detailed with vestment collar and handsome belt. The print, created by Irene, depicts marquise, emerald and other diamond cuttings. Style #8591.
Annotated in pencil on the reverse “Engstead” and “Irene Gibbons Collection.” According to VIrginia Fisher, Irene’s sketch artist, she particularly liked John Engstead’s photos and often called on him to do her photographic work after she left MGM.
