1943. Anita Colby – “the most beautiful face this side of heaven and the sharpest tongue this side of hell,” according to Valdemar Vetlugen, editor of Redbook. In the words of Jean Negulesco, “the ‘Face’ with a brain to match.” She is an extraordinary lady. Currently she’s a model, a movie star and an agent. But she’s ambitious and talented and will go on to be an author, a newspaper columnist, an advertising executive, chief assistant to Hollywood moguls and a host on the Today show. A caption on the back of the photo reads:
ANITA COLBY, technical advisor for the Columbia picture “Cover Girl” starring Rita Hayworth, puts her stamp of approval on California designed hats. One of her favorites from the advance fall collection of Franscois Modes is this tiny sailor gray and red striped tafetta with matching cuffs. For fun and fancy turn the cuffs into a dickie for your summer suits.
