1965. Sixties supermodel Veruschka dances over photographer David Bailey as he writhes on the ground looking to capture an unconventional angle. Bailey, the son of an East End tailor’s cutter, has learned his craft by working as an assistant to John French, a leading fashion and portrait photographer of the previous generation. Now he’s a celebrity in his own right, as is Veruschka, who will become Franco Rubartelli’s muse. Photo by Bert Stern.
