October 1947. A caption on the back of the photo reads:
Nob Hill has dipped into the 19th century for inspiration and created this Georges Sand suit with all the racey polish of that sophisticated lady writer. The rounded shawl collar with white pique vestee is very new – very chic. The hipline silhouette emphasises the rounded lines so loved by 19th century ladies. Fabric is a fine navy blue Julliard gabardine. Designed by Vernelle for Nob Hill, and is to be featured in San Francisco’s world premiere fashion showing in Paris October 16th.
