Early/mid-1950s. Irene suits were designed and constructed to show off a woman’s waist. She used plaids, stripes and seaming to help achieve the effects she was looking for. It’s possible that all six photos of Irene fashions illustrating Irene Lentz – a pioneering American luxury fashion brand are of the same collection. It’s difficult to tell – suit styles didn’t change a lot from year to year. The photo is annotated in pencil on the reverse “Irene Gibbons Collection.”
